Scheduling Conflicts Result in Top Players’ Absence from Barclays Singapore Open

Graeme McDowell, the former US Open champion, said that many top players were absent from the Barclays Singapore Open due to scheduling conflicts. He said that players can’t play each week and have to choose which tournaments to play.

In an interview provided by Barclays Singapore Open, former US Open champion Graeme McDowell says scheduling is a main reason why many of golf’s best players are not at the tournament.

“This is a tough time of the year especially this year. The schedule has been pushed up by two weeks because of the world cup of golf and next week’s Presidents Cup, ” he said.

He added that players “want to come and support events like this but they cannot play every week. Guys have got to pick and choose.”
